Hello and Happy New Year everyone! I pray this new year allows you a reset in your life, your journey, your mindset, and your goals. I also pray that you allow yourself grace if you are feeling stuck in your life, your journey, etc. We are on Day 5 of year 2023 and most every where I turn I see “New Year, New Me” and the pressure of needing things to change. Back in November I made a commitment to myself to be the healthiest version of me that I can and I began working out consistently in a small gym. By December I joined a larger gym and by January the same gym that was relatively empty at 5am was now packed! I mean standing room only. For someone who gets anxiety in large crowds that is a major deterrent to my now habit of working out.
What causes us to think we HAVE to change ourselves January 1?!
Living with a chronic disease I have come to accept that its a new year but same lupus. Same pains, same aches, same struggles, nothing new changed for me at the stroke of midnight. New year is just about a change of calendar and year and that’s it. So many years I lived with the high expectations that each new year would bring a new beginning and fresh start and was disappointed when my chronic illness reared its ugly head in my life.
So I want to share this truth with y’all and hope it sticks. Nothing in your life will change with just a hope and a prayer. If you want this year to be your prosperous year, it starts with better financial decisions. If you want this year to be your healthiest year ever, its going to start with you making some better decisions as well. We know that a chronic illness is just that: chronic. The definition itself is persisting for a long time or reoccurring. So we know we can’t change our diagnosis. We have to look within to see what CAN we change. 9 times out of 10 if we made minor adjustments to our mindset, we could mold our life drastically. You do not have to believe me, I know for a fact that when I changed my mindset and how I viewed my diagnosis, my life changed for the better.
So I want to challenge my readers to take a few minutes to pause and reflect. Look at your current habits, and look at your life and see what you might be able to change. If you need coaching hit me up! I am more than happy to walk you through this challenge and seeing positive changes in your life.
Lastly, I want to leave you with this. It doesnt matter if its January 1, or March 1 or September 1. A new you is always around the corner from when you take that first step, that decision to make the change and work for it.
Love yall and hope to hear from you soon.
